arm yourself
This is a typical work outfit for me. I often get rather dirty and need to be comfortable so nothing fancy. I call this belt my armor (lol at me for naming an accessory!), also please note the kick ass steel toe Dr. Martins. I'm required to wear steel toe shoes so thank the powers to be for Dr. Martin work boots!

thrifty thursday
I like to wear leggings with long shirts and dresses. It's a very comfortable outfit that is suitable for my work environment, but it's hard to find shirts that are long enough! I did some searching for tutorials that would show me how to make some long shirts and after watching a few videos on youtube here's what I came up with.
Took one of G.'s shirts (x-large tall)
Cut up the sides and along the sleeves.
Then sewed a seam all along the cut with my sewing machine.
The first attempt was way too tight, but the second fit great!
The way I cut the sleeves made for a 3/4 length which is perfect for my work where it has a tendency to get chilly. The patch was another t-shirt that was too small for me so I cut out the cute design and sewed it onto this shirt/dress/tunic thingy to make it a little more interesting. I am realizing now that I need to wear a black tank or something under this so the top of my leggings isn't visible, other then that I'm really happy with how it turned out. The best part.... It was free!!! Did't cost me a .00$. I think I will be making more of these and maybe even do some freezer paper screen prints on the front.
This was the tutorial that helped me the most:

Last Day Red & Black week challenge
My last entry for Red & Black week! I bought this shirt with this challenge in mind. The challenge forced me out of my comfort zone of black, grey, and white, with some fuchsia accents. Having pink hair really did limit me on the colors I could wear and now having it black is giving me a lot more options.
You can't really see, but the stockings have spiderwebs on them.
Had to have some spiders to go with the webs.

Red & Black week entry #3
Short post today, in kinda a hurry and just go a bit of a shock from the auto repair guy. Not in the best of moods at the moment.
The Horrorpops are one of my favorite bands and I picked up this shirt a while back.
Can't remember if I got it when I went to see them @ Warped Tour a few years ago or if I ordered it online. It's one of three that I own so sorry if I'm a little confused.
Jeans: Ross

Had to do some improvising with this outfit in order for it to qualify for Red & Black week.
I actually had to dig through my bead stash to come up with something to add a little bit o' red to my outfit.
The bat was part of a pair of earnings that I broke down into two necklaces and a slightly modified pair of earnings.
Sorry about the blurry pictures, someday I'll get the hang of this new camera.

Red & Black week
When I heard about the Red & Black week challenge going on over at http://www.sophistiquenoir.com/
I was very excited to participate... until I realized that I own very little red! So bear with me and hopefully with a little bit of creativity I'll be able to post more then once during the week.
Boyfriend took a funny "action" shot so I had to include it =)

a journey and an outfit
A lot of things have changed over the past few months, one of those things is my hair. How often I change my hair has become a joke among my friends so I thought I would post some pictures of how it has changed over the past few months.
It started out long and blond
Then I bleached it out, but that was really just a prep step
The first time I dyed it pink the color didn't really come out uniform so there are few pictures of me durring this time
The next time I did it I had learned a few tricks so the color came out a lot better!
Oh so curley, you don't want to know how long it was taking me to style my hair when it was this long!
I had enough! So I cut most of it off.
This past weekend I decided my hair needed a break for the bleaching so I had a stylist at a local salon dye it black, I guess my hair didn't take the black because it was so light with the pink so it turned out more dark brunette. I will be going darker in a few weeks. I also cut off some more, keeps getting shorter and shorter!
Today was also my nephew's birthday party so I thought I would do an outfit post as well.
Shirt: clearance at Walmart a few years ago
Pants: Donated from a friend
Shoes: Target
Sorry for the blurry picture I'm still getting used to my camera. Next time I'll take some more detailed shots. The pants had some cute detail on the bottom and an cool oriental pattern that really doesn't show up in this picture.
